lets make a nice blog

Last weekend I graduated from EMU, and am now out on the job hunt.  Ideally, I’ll be working on some Michigan House races, the President’s re-election campaign and working nights at Starbucks back home.

I’ve got some other opportunities open and would really like to move to Detroit, but that just isnt in the cards right now.

One of my mentors instructed me to really start blogging - not just reposting random things I find interesting but really taking positions and analyzing policy.  To this, I say, challenge accepted.

PS I’ve been posting on another blog for the last month or so, a more ‘adult’ related blog (if you want the address, ask) but have now returned home :)

Democrats Responsible for “two-thirds of private-sector job growth in the past five decades”

“During an election-year clash over which U.S. political party has the best prescription for curing unemployment, Democrats can argue that almost two-thirds of private-sector job growth in the past five decades came with them in the White House.” ~Bloomberg News

In January 2012 – Politifact rated this claim by President Obama as “Mostly True”:

“In the last 22 months, businesses have created more than 3 million jobs. Last year, they created the most jobs since 2005.”

Nothing to be happy about, but here is something from the bright side in capitalism— no it still sucks.

Facts are such stubborn things.

Every Friday, TNR posts one poem from our archives—which date back to the birth of the magazine in 1914—on Tumblr. Today’s poem, entitled “Some People,” was written by the late Wislawa Szymborska, who passed away this past Wednesday. The poem first ran in the December 30, 1996 issue of The New Republic.
